Welcome to the first ever ArtNight SpringHill Suites: Chupa Chups Lollipop Art Challenge! This challenge is open to all artists and artisans.

As part of this year’s ArtNight SpringHill Suites: Luminous Passage event, we invited you to create a hybrid lollipop-art pieces using a range of mediums. The participating artists will show off their projects on November 13th as part of Luminous Passage Art Event.

Chupa Chups & SpringHill Suites Brief
Salvador Dali Made History
Excerpt from FastCompany Article: Dali's Real Masterpiece by Belinda Lanka

The Catalan lollipop made its first appearance in 1958, when the company founder Enric Bernat hatched the idea of placing a bonbon on a stick. He called the product "GOL," imagining the candy as a soccer ball and the open mouth a net. It didn’t go over well. So Bernat hired an ad agency that renamed his product "Chupa Chups" (from the Spanish chupar, meaning “to suck”). All that was left was the branding. In 1969, Bernat complained about what he had while having coffee with his artist friend--none other than Salvador Dalí.

According to lore, the painter went to work immediately, doodling for an hour on newspapers that were laying around. Dalí's version masterfully integrated the wordmark into the daisy design, and has hardly changed since.

To date, Chupa Chups are the # 1 selling lollipops in 160 countries.

How it became SpringHill Suites Signature Lollipop?
It is because of Chupa Chups connection to the trends, arts, music and fashion that SpringHill Suites selected it as its signature lollipop, to complement the brand’s core element of style.
