Volunteer Information: Rage Triathlon April 18, 2015

Main Transition Area - VOLUNTEER CHECK IN
Boulder Beach after main gate - look for 2 oversize TENTS & BBSC Endurance Trailer
    Volunteers please check-in upon arrival.

VOLUNTEER STATIONS:  BIKE COURSE

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: All Bike Course Volunteers
Go Directly to your Assigned Station (do not check-in at Main Transition Station)

Bike Traffic Marshal
    Important: Must arrive at station by 6:30

    Event Duration: 6:45 - 11:14
Volunteers will be directing ALL athletes to take a right turn onto Lake Shore Rd, orange safety vest/ traffic flag will be provided morning of event.  Location Map Link: Lakeshore and South Access Rd.           
   
Bike Sprint Turnaround Marshal
    Important: Must arrive at station by 7:00
    Event Duration: 7:20 – 11:48       
1.) Volunteers will be recording bib numbers of the athletes turning around at this point, safety vest/ traffic flag/ clipboard will be provided morning of event.
2.) You will not know which athletes are turning around and which athletes are going straight and continuing on to the Olympic, and Half course, there will be large signs to direct the athletes, as well as a traffic control vehicle. Be vocal, and yell to all athletes “Sprint turn around here.”
3.) Use cowbells and yell words of encouragement to the athletes.
    Location Map Link: Lakeshore Rd approximately 7 miles from the entrance of the park     

Bike Olympic Turnaround/ Half TA Marshal
   
Important: Must arrive at station by 7:15
    Event Duration: 730 - 1030          
1.) Volunteers will be recording bib numbers of the athletes turning around at this point, safety vest/ traffic flag/ clipboard will be provided morning of event.
2.) All athletes are turning around here, there will be large signs to direct the athletes, as well as a traffic control vehicle. Be vocal, and yell to all athletes “Turn around here.”
3.) Use cowbells and yell words of encouragement to the athletes.
     Location Map Link: Lake Mead Pkwy, approximately 1 mile from  North Shore/ Lake Shore  intersection, or approx. 0.5 miles outside of the Park entrance    

Bike Half Turnaround 1st & 2nd Lane Marshal
    Important: Must arrive at station by 7:30

    Event Duration: 7:45-11:17
1.) Volunteers will be recording bib numbers of the athletes turning around at this point, safety vest/ traffic flag/ clipboard will be provided morning of
2.)This is a turn around for Half athletes to make another lap on the course before going back into transition. There will be large signs to direct the athletes, as well as a traffic control vehicle. Be vocal, and yell to all athletes “Half First Lap Turn Around Here.”
3.) Use cowbells and yell words of encouragement to the athletes.

Bike Aid 1              
    Event Duration: 7:30-11:30          
    Please have this area set up by 7:20
Volunteers will set up a folding table/ tents when they arrive in the morning, and place water/ Gatorade in ice trough to hand out to the athletes as they ride by.  Location Map Link: Lakeshore Rd. approximately 4.8 miles from the entrance of the park.              


VOLUNTEER STATIONS:  RUN COURSE

Run Traffic Marshal
     Event Duration: 8:40 – 2:00
Ensuring safety of athletes crossing Hemenway Road.  Safety vest and orange flag will be provided morning of event.

Run Sprint Turnaround Marshal
   
Please meet coordinator at the Transition Area around 7:45
    Event Duration: 8:00 - 11:30        
1.) Volunteers will be recording bib numbers of the athletes turning around at this point, traffic flag/ clipboard will be provided morning of event.       
2.) You will not know which athletes are turning around and which athletes are going straight and continuing on to the Olympic, and Half course, there will be large signs to direct the athletes. Be vocal, and yell to all athletes “Sprint turn around here.”

Please meet coordinator at the Transition Area around 9:15   
    Event Duration: 9:45 – 2:15         
1.) Volunteers will be recording bib numbers of the athletes turning around at this point, traffic flag/ clipboard will be provided morning of event.       
2.)This is the end of the course. All athletes must turnaround here. There will be large signs to direct the athletes. Be vocal, and yell to all athletes “Turn around here.”                            
3.) Use cowbells and yell words of encouragement to the athletes.

Run Aid 1: 1st Shift
   
Please meet volunteer coordinator at 7:30 by the Transition Area
   
Event Duration: 7:45 – 11:30

Event Duration: 11:00 – 3:00       
Volunteers will continue distributing waters and Gatorades to athletes.  Location Map Link: Meet coordinator at the transition area by the beach             
   
Run Aid 2: 1st Shift
     
Please have aid station set up by 8:30
Event Duration: 8:15 – 12:30       
Volunteers will set up a folding table/ tents when they arrive in the morning, and fill water/ Gatorade cups to hand out to the athletes as they run by.  Location Map Link: On Lakeshore, approximately 0.9 miles down from the entrance of the park               
   
Run Aid 2: 2nd Shift
     Event Duration: 1:00 – 3:00         
Volunteers will continue distributing waters and gatorades to athletes. Location Map Link: On Lakeshore, approximately 0.9 miles down from the entrance of the park
 
Run Aid 3: 1st Shift
    
Please have aid station set up by 8:40
    Event Duration: 8:25 – 1:00         
Volunteers will set up a folding table/ tents when they arrive in the morning, and fill water/ Gatorade in cups to hand out to the athletes as they run by.  Location Map Link: On Lakeshore immediately before the entrance of the park.              

Run Aid 3: 2nd Shift
    Event Duration: 1:00 – 3:00
Volunteers will continue distributing waters and gatorades to athletes.  Location Map Link: On Lakeshore immediately before the entrance of the park.              

Run Aid 4

    Event Duration: 9:30 – 2:30
Volunteers will set up a folding table/ tents when they arrive in the morning, and fill water/ Gatorade in cups to hand out to the athletes as they run by.  Location Map Link: At the Historic Railroad Trailhead      
   
Run Aid 5
    
Please meet coordinator at the Transition Area around 9:15
   
Event Duration: 9:30 – 2:30
Volunteers will set up a folding table/ tents when they arrive in the morning, and fill water/ Gatorade in cups to hand out to the athletes as they run by.               
    Location Map Link: At the Historic Railroad Trailhead. Walk 1.5 miles down the trail to the aid station.     
  
Run Aid 6     
   
Please meet coordinator at the Transition Area around 9:15
    Event Duration: 9:45 – 2:15
Volunteers will set up a folding table/ tents when they arrive in the morning, and fill water/ Gatorade in cups to hand out to the athletes as they run by.

Rage Triathlon OVERVIEW: Race will begin early, with a breath-taking sunrise swim in Lake Mead, followed by a spectacular and hilly bike course through Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The run will be partly on dirt and concrete trails, as it leads you to the River Mountain Loop Trail, Historic Railroad Hiking Trail and Half athletes will travel through the famous Six Tunnels of Hoover Dam.

750m Swim/12.4mi Bike/5K Run
Olympic Course
1500m Swim/21.8mi Bike/10K Run
Half Course
1.2mi Swim/56mi Bike/13.1mi Run
