a Message from our Creative Director & Founder March 2012
Welcome to Think & Wonder, Inc.! We are a non-profit arts organization dedicated to emerging artists. While some of our members are just entering a life long adventure in the arts, others are emerging on the national arena. Our organization was begun with the simple idea that there are talented individuals who are practicing their art behind closed doors. We hope to open those doors so that they can share their work and improve their craft with the help and encouragement of their fellow artists.
Last year, we launch our pilot program,ThinkArt! ThinkArt! was designed to offer artists a network of resources, opportunities, education, training, and camaraderie. Since it's conception, we have been active in the Las Vegas art community. Our activism and efforts awarded us a small gallery space within SpringHill Suites Convention Center, where we manage and host juried themed shows and exhibits; we partnered with Green Valley Library (Henderson) where we coordinate literary inspired art shows and solo exhibitions; and partnering with the Henderson District Public Libraries, we collaborated on the third annual Unlocked Voices teen writing contest - this year mark our second year in collaboration. We are continually trying to find new ways to promote our members and to bring their artistic talents to the general public. Last fall, we pushed our efforts and partnered with Marriott’s national community art campaign, ArtNight. With ArtNight, we developed, Black White & Night: an Evening of the Arts, where we were able to showcase our talented artists and artisans from high school to college students and our local artists to a national audience, which brought in much needed attention to the local art community. This endeavor was met with excitement from the artists and the entire community as well. Starting with live musical performances by Las Vegas Arts Academy (high school) students to closing the night with professional musicians, the event was a showstopper and showcased over 80 artists and artisans. The evening was a night to remember!
This year promises to see additional growth in our organization. This spring, we will open with a re-launch party and art reception to celebrate, Palettes Gallery & Bistro, re-branding the gallery space and restaurant at SpringHill Suites Convention Center. The reception and art exhibition will celebrate the theme, “the love of art and design”. Along with live music, we will also offer art demonstrations. We hope to provide a warm and engaging experience for all our guests and supporters. In July, we will induct our first ever fundraising event, The Artful Dodgers – a charity dodge ball tournament to be played at Cambridge Park Outreach Center. We want our members and supporters to reconnect with their childhood, get renewed inspiration, and above all else, laugh and have some fun!
Think & Wonder, Inc, and it's pilot program, ThinkArt!, is an open organization managed by artists for artists. Participation is essential for the success of our programs, exhibits and the organization itself. If you are an artist, artisan or someone who is interested in the arts, please take time to view this web site and consider becoming a member. We will promise to never lose sight of our mission and will work to maintain the diversity and quality of our programs and art exhibitions.
My warmest regards,
Dinh Chau-Kieckhafer
