Meet the PILLOW ARTISTS
GAIL MONTOURE
TITLE: “Sunday Morning”
DIMENSIONS: H 23” x W 22” x D 26” DESCRIPTION: Imagining a lazy Sunday morning spent reading in bed, for a couple nearing retirement, who finally have a few extra minutes to indulge in dreams of pursuing their post-retirement interests. For him: Spend more time exploring the sights of Nevada and painting from his own photographs. For her: Learn more about creating fiber art and building art dolls. MATERIALS: 100% of the fabrics in “Sunday Morning” came from the pillows donated by Spring Hill Suites: The doll bodies, clothing, hair, bedding, the magazines. I challenged myself to make no exceptions, and achieved it! The only non-pillow materials used were for support structures, such as armatures for the dolls, a platform for the bed, and a handful of buttons. Fabrics were hand-dyed then decorated using acrylic paint and watercolor, crayons, pastels, art bars, ink pencils, and charcoal. OTHER INFO: All photographs and artwork included in the magazines was created by, and is copyrighted to, the “Sunday Morning” artist. SPECIAL NOTE: “Sunday Morning” is an art project. The dolls are not toys, and are not suitable for use by children. |
