Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Jerry Schefcik, Donna Beam Fine Arts Gallery Director
ThinkArt! held its Points of View (POV) Reception for Masters of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts students from University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).
Students had the opportunity to be showcased while enjoying a wonderful reception hosted and catered by SpringHill Suites Las Vegas Convention.
SpringHill Suites General Manager, Jamie Caharer, gave welcoming remarks and ThinkArt! Board Member, Michael Harley, gave an overview of POV and presented ThinkArt!'s mission and objectives. Jerry Schefcik, Director of UNLV Donna Beam Fine Arts Gallery then offered remarks on the show's theme; recognized and thanked the MFA & BFA students for their participation.
Palettes Gallery - SpringHill Suites transformed its walls to reflect visions of student experiences from their points of view. ThinkArt! and Palettes Gallery officially opened Points of View to the public, giving attendees first look at a diverse variety of the students' artistic perspectives. The exhibit, which features everything from watercolor paintings, mixed media, digital prints, black & white photographs, and to traditional oil paintings, explores how design has shaped and continues to transform our experiences. This gallery reception event offered an opportunity for a dialogue between an emerging generation of Las Vegas artists and the public.
Guests chatted and socialized with students, all while enjoying food and drinks. ThinkArt! is grateful for the sponsorship of SpringHill Suites Las Vegas for hosting the reception. The event couldn’t have happened without the support of our co-hosts, volunteers, and attendees. Thank you to all who attended and stay tuned for future events and exhibitions.
If you didn't make it to the reception, please come down and see the show. Points of View is an annual event held every summer at SpringHill Suites Convention Center. All proceeds from art sales goes to the students. Be a creative catalyst and support our students!
