An intimate reception celebrating the achievements of ArtNight: Carnival of Colors winners; held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 5-7pm @ SpringHill Suites Convention Center (2989 Paradise Rd). It was a good reception with an impromptu Q & A session with the artists. We also would like to THANK SpringHill Suites for their continued support and hosting the event.

“To me art is about a happy and fun place in time. When starting a new painting, I immerse myself in the moment and my subject. I study their eyes to see what they were thinking the moment the photograph was taking. I want people to engage in my paintings and see what I see. Art should tell a story and that the story is to be told through the expression, pose and eyes”. |

"The art of woodcut reflects a most violent medium which employs knives, chisels, hammers and gouges. It is a medium that seemingly had been lost with the Huns and Barbarians of the 15th and 16th centuries - my ancestors. The agitated movements and visual entanglements lacking in sensitivity of balance, and a willful disregard for stylistic properties governed the designs created by those warriors-artists. It is that Teutonic heritage then which I believe has led me to become a woodcut artist." |
